If you’re reading this, I bet you’re in one of these two situations: looking for fun educational activities that will keep your students focused as the school year comes to its end OR you’re teaching summer school.
Maybe both.
Either way, this French Summer Lapbook is the resource you’re looking for.
Why is that?
1. Because it will help you teach or review key summer vocabulary, e.g. ocean animals, words related to the beach.
2. Because it will help you get your students using the vocabulary in writing as they’ll be responding to the writing prompts included in this lapbook.
Let’s take a closer look at the pieces now. And at the end of the post, there’s a French Ocean Animals Slideshare Quiz for you to use in the classroom.
French Summer Lapbook – Cover
(NOTE: everything comes in B&W and color and the flaps, mini-books, and other printables can be used to create lapbooks or interactive notebooks.)
French Summer Lapbook
There are five different activities in this lapbook:
– two foldable mini-books: “Les animaux de la mer” (one book for feminine nouns and another book for masculine nouns). There are three versions of each mini-book so you can differentiate your instruction.
– drawing and writing prompt: “Mes photos de vacances”. If you’re using this BEFORE summer vacation, have students write/draw about their ideal or planned vacation.
– writing prompt flip book: “La plage en été”. There are two versions of this flip book: one with pre-selected illustrations and another one that allows students to choose their own images (included in the file). This is a great exercise for sequencing and story-telling.
– interactive match-up: students will be matching nouns to illustrations. The mini-cards they create will then be kept in a pocket for future reference.
– writing prompt: “Le surveillant de baignade dit:…” What would a lifeguard be saying? This is what students have to think and write about.
